Jitske Schols works with a variety of mediums including photography, painting, drawing, collage and printmaking. Her main focus is portrait photography. Schols became fascinated by the passing of time and what it does to people, things or histories after reading a book in the 1980s about the former residents of her childhood home. In her artworks she often focuses on untold or forgotten (female) stories, bringing history back to the present. Memories and imaginations play an important role. The materials and processes she uses often refer to the themes in her work.
'Shreds of Eve' is a series of poetic portraits that emphasize the fragmentation of ‘her’ stories in history.
